When the coronavirus closed down schools and required distance learning for the rest of the school year, things seemed complicated. Suddenly, parents, students and teachers alike were forced to learn a new way of schooling. Yet despite the initial discomfort, the benefits of distance learning go far beyond protection from the virus.

Distance learning, also called distance education, e-learning, and online learning, form of education in which the main elements include physical separation of teachers and students during instruction and the use of various technologies to facilitate student-teacher and student-student communication.

This refers to a modality where learning takes place between the teacher and the learners who are geographically remote from each other during instruction. This modality has three types, namely: Modular Distance Learning, Online Distance Learning, and Television/Radio-Based Instruction
